FIFA has suspended the membership of the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF). The statement said that the suspension of the Pakistan Football Federation was due to the occupation of the PFF headquarters and Pakistan's membership would remain suspended until the Pakistan Football Federation normalization committee returned its powers.
It is to be noted that an earlier warning letter from FIFA had warned that the occupation of the FF headquarters should be ended and the office should be allowed to operate as per the mandate given by FIFA, otherwise the matter would be immediately referred to the Bureau. In January, Haroon Malik was named chairman of the PFF's normalization committee, as FIFA replaced all members of the initial committee.
As in-charge, Munir Sadhana had annulled all the decisions of Hamza, meaning that Haroon and his committee had to start work from the beginning. Before the election, Sardar Naveed had left Faisal Saleh Hayat and joined hands with Zahir Ali Shah, as a result of which Ashfaq was elected as the head of PFF. However, Faisal Saleh Hayat accepted the election held by the Supreme Court.
